Wellow Primary School

Welcome

On behalf of all of the staff and children here at Wellow Primary School, I would like to wish you a very warm welcome to our school.

I hope you find the information contained here useful, whether you are a prospective parent deciding whether to send your child here, or an existing parent checking dates and arrangements! The web-site is updated frequently with latest news and information, calendar dates, copies of all letters sent home as well as providing comprehensive information about the school’s curriculum and events.

We are a village primary school in Wellow with around 200 pupils arranged in 7 classes and also have our own, on-site preschool. There is a friendly, purposeful and calm atmosphere in the school where children are expected to work hard, learn new skills and knowledge and behave well. The children are supported by a hard-working and experienced team of teachers, teaching assistants and other members of the support team. The whole staff share a responsibility of raising standards and keeping self-esteem high, but also in making life at school exciting, fun and enjoyable - we all know that happy children make the best learners!

As a school we form part of a family of schools in the local area. In December 2020 we became part of an exciting new Academy Trust with Winchester University, meaning that our staff and pupils are supported experts in the field of primary education. The Multi Academy Trust and family of schools is overseen by an Executive Leader who is responsible for the overall strategic direction and success of all schools in our partnership.

Our most recent Ofsted Inspection in November 2016 substantiated the school’s self-evaluation that Wellow is a GOOD school. We received this in all aspects: pupil achievement, quality of teaching, behaviour and safety and leadership and management. This reflects the hard work of all pupils and staff and the high standards that we set ourselves in all areas of school life.

Although the web-site is comprehensive and contains lots of information, there is nothing better than seeing the school working first-hand. If you are considering sending your child here, I urge you to make an appointment to visit during school hours to sample the positive, hard-working atmosphere and to see for yourself why Wellow School is a really good choice for your child.

It is a real privilege to be Head at this great school and I am proud of all the people who contribute to providing high quality education and opportunities for our children. We hope that the children leave Wellow having achieved their very best and look back with really positive and happy memories of the people, events and their time at the school.

Best wishes,

Mrs Larcombe
