I would recommend watching from the Set 1 Word Time. Encourage your child to write a list of words they have heard during today's lesson i.e. may, play. If your child is confident, allow them to attempt this on their own, or help by writing the words for them to copy. Are they able to write any of these words into a sentence i.e. "I would like to play Lego."?

  • Play the 'Number Line' Game

    • Make a set of twelve numbered cards from pieces of paper or you could use an old cereal packet and cut out the cards. Ask your child to write clear, correctly formed numbers on these 1 to 12 or to 20.

    • Spread out the cards face down.

    • Turn over a card. Say the number. Place it in the middle of the table face up, e.g. you place 6.

    • Your child turns over another card and says the numbers. If this card goes next to the card face up in the middle, they can place it there, e.g. it is 5 which goes before 6, or 7 which goes after 6.

    • If this card does not go next to it, e.g. it’s 11, then your child keeps it in her hand.

    • Before your turn, you check your hand to see if you have a card which can be placed face up next to the other cards in the middle. If you do, you place that card there before have your turn picking up a card. Your child must do the same.

    • You and your partner are gradually building up a line of cards with the numbers in order in the middle of the table.

    • The winner is the person who completes the line by placing the last card. This will be either 1 or 12/20!

Spellings - Red Words

Todays focus is: like

As we do in school, show and say the word to your child, then ask them to recall it to you. Encourage your child to use this word within their own sentence i.e. I really like playing in the garden. Ask your child to write their sentence into their Home Learning book. Can they write more than one?

Other Work

Watch a video of Goldilocks here is an example:

Some of you may have your own copy of Goldilocks to read with your child.

After listening/reading the story encourage your child to write a few words to complete the following story mat. Some of you may like to create your own book. There are various resources available on Twinkl to extend this activity over the weekend i.e. counting or colouring.
