  • With a pen and paper at the ready, ask your child to join in and write the words. They will then tick each sound and see if they are right.
  • Phonics Bloom: https://www.phonicsbloom.com/uk/game/flash-cards?phase=3
    • Choose option 6.
    • Say the sounds, let your adult select correct 'yes' or 'no' to move the pirate ship.
    • Have a second go. Can you beat your score?
  • Challengehttps://www.phonicsbloom.com/uk/game/tricky-trucks?phase=3
    • Choose the Phase 3 option and then choose tricky words from the options.
    • What is your best score?

Handwriting

This week, we will be recapping the formation of our One Armed Robot letters.

This can be written into the Home Learning books, or alternatively, a print out of the letters (pages 9 to 12) can be found here: https://primarysite-prod-sorted.s3.amazonaws.com/wellow-primary-school/UploadedDocument/71ecb3a914624f4f8f39f15c80089a71/handwriting.pdf

Today we will be concentrating on letters r and b. Can you form them correctly? Can you write out the words? Remember your ascenders and descenders. Where does your letter sit on the line? Where do you start your letter?

Maths

Introduction can be found here: https://www.wellow.hants.sch.uk/files-2/

This week will be exploring patterns, making simple patterns to start with and then moving onto more complex ones toward the end of the week.

  • Look at the following picture:

  • What types of beads is Alex using? How many cubes are there? How many spheres?
  • Which bead will come next in the pattern? How do you know?

  • Discuss the following slide with you child. If they have not understood the pattern, read through and ask them to join in sphere (round), cube, sphere...

  • Listen/watch Pattern Bugs by Trudy Harris: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4g2fKY_mwYI
  • Sing the following, ask your child to join in with the actions. Can they make up their own?
    • Clap your hands and wiggle your fingers
Clap your hands and wiggle your fingers
Clap your hands and wiggle your fingers
      Now we've made a pattern.

Spellings - Red Words

Todays focus is: what

As we do in school, show and say the word to your child, then ask them to recall it to you. Repeat several times. Hide the word, show the word. Perhaps add in some of our previous red words?

Encourage your child to...

  • Write the word three times into your Home Learning book. Can you circle your best one?
  • Use this word within their own sentence i.e. What is the day today?
  • Ask your child to write their sentence into their Home Learning book. Can they write three?

Other Work

Show and Tell Friday. As an opportunity for the children to share with their friends, I would like to send out another class Show & Tell via Tapestry. To do this, I invite all children this week to find their favourite toy and either record a short video or take a picture and write a few words to share why this is their favourite. Can these be emailed to me by Wednesday please at; c.evans@wellow.hants.sch.uk

Here is my example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clC_BmavLnc
