Find the Obb & Bob (Nonsense & Real) Words - Play Phase two and choose between the options. We usually choose a mix between a secure sound (i.e). s and then a more difficult sound (ch). How about choosing some of our new Set 2 Sounds?

Yesterday, we learned the Set 2 Sound ‘oo’ (long).

-Using the picture below, Say the Sound (My Turn, Your Turn), Fred Talk the words (z_oo), then blend. Can they use Fred in the Head to write these words into their Remote Learning Book?

Continue to recap Set 1 Sounds using the Ruth Miskin (Read Write Inc) Phonics lessons released each day online. Each film will be available for 24 hours via the Ruth Miskin YouTube channel:

-Encourage your child to sit for the Word Time and Spelling lessons for Set 1 Sounds.

(Most children should now be confident with Set 1 Sounds)

- Have a piece of paper or their Remote Learning Book to hand, where they will try to write the words seen in the video. They will tick their work during the video.

Continue to practice reading, a new books will be placed on Tapestry each week.

-Read the story three times to allow for fluency, comprehension and prosody. Record reading in the children's Reading Diaries.

Hampshire School Games

Complete a new challenge each day:

Use White Rose Home Learning Alive in 5, Week 3 Session 4.

Allow your child to watch the video and join in with the activity.

Mr Evans' Maths Challenge

-Can you write your numerals 4-6?

-Practise forming numerals 4, 5 and 6 using the rhyme to help.

-As we would with phonics, write the numerals into your child's Remote Learning Book and allow them to trace over that numeral. Can they then write five themselves? Ask your child to circle their best one.

-For those requiring more support, or prefer a worksheet, a Number Formation Activity Sheet is available here: We will look at further numerals through the week.

Spellings - Red Words

Today's focus is: me

As we would do in school, show and say the word to your child, then ask them to recall it to you. Encourage your child to use this word within their own sentence i.e. Will she play with me?

As an extra challenge, ask your child to record the word in their Remote Learning Book, they could even complete a simple sentence written for them i.e. You are shorter than me.

Other Work

Let's take a virtual trip to Kenya and some other places in Africa! What are the similarities or differences between Kenya and England? Does Kenya look similar to somewhere we have previously visited?

This afternoon you are going to record your adventure in your passport! On one page of your Passport, draw either a famous landmark from Africa, the Kenyan Flag or some wild animals! Can you label your pictures? Can you write Kenya or Africa? Did you use your Fred Fingers or Fred in the Head? Talk about the shapes they draw i.e. What shapes are on the flag?
