We have finished learning all of our Set 2 Sounds and will begin recapping these after the half term. This week we would like to focus on some of our Set 1 Special Friends; sounding, blending and writing. You will need a piece of paper and pencil or your Remote Learning Book. If there is a particular sound your child is struggling with, you can also use this time to continue to practice sounding, writing and blending using that sound.

- Have a few soft objects that can be thrown (bean-bag, soft toy). Challenge your child to throw the object as far as they can. Throw an item yourself. Who has thrown their item the furthest? How could you check? Encourage your child to discuss and try different ways to find this out. Could you count strides? Footprints heel-to-toe? Prompt use of language such as further, nearer and closer.
Have another throw. Did you throw your item further this time?
Spellings - Red Words
Today's focus is: some
As we would do in school, show and say the word to your child, then ask them to recall it to you. Encourage your child to use this word within their own sentence i.e. Why do some trees stay green?
As an extra challenge, ask your child to record the word in their Remote Learning Book, they could even complete a simple sentence written for them i.e. Can I have ___ sweets?

Can you write some Chinese symbols? To continue the Chinese New Year celebrations, we would like you to create a red envelope (template below) and write a Chinese symbol on it. This is called calligraphy. Red envelopes are given to friends and family as gifts, and their colour (red) symbolises good luck and prosperity. What will you put in your envelope? Which symbol will you use?
