Job/Person Summary

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Learning Support Assistant to join our team.

The LSA team at Wellow School is highly skilled, dedicated and has a great sense of humour, so the successful candidate will have plenty of support in a happy environment.

The successful candidate will;

  • Have experience of working with children in the primary age group
  • Have good standard of written and spoken English and good understanding and application of Maths. (GCSE grade C or above)
  • Have a desire to work as part of a team and have good interpersonal skills
  • Be able to support children in the learning process and enable them to be independent
  • Be able to work effectively with children either individually or in small groups to enable them to achieve their best
  • Have enthusiasm and creativity to ensure that the highest possible standards of pupil achievement, personal development and well-being are achieved.
  • Be willing to "go the extra mile" in any respect to achieve the very best outcomes for the children in our care.
  • Be enthusiastic, self-motivated, creative and able to use their initiative
  • Be organised, efficient and professional in their approach
  • Be caring, understanding and patient

At Wellow School there is also an expectation that LSAs also undertake daily lunchtime supervision duties

Preschool Practitioner - Job description (maternity cover)

We are looking to recruit an Early Years Practitioner for maternity cover for our successful preschool at Wellow Primary School near Romsey.

 

Hours: 37 hours per week, term time only with a one hour lunch break. 8am - 4.30pm Monday to Friday

 

Our teacher led, term time only facility takes children from 2-4 years, and is set within Wellow Primary School itself, enjoying the same attractive grounds and facilities.

You will be responsible for supporting the team in ensuring that all children receive stimulating play experiences appropriate to their age, stage of development and individual needs.
You must have excellent people and communication skills as you will liaise with parents, staff across the school and other professionals from outside agencies.

This is a great opportunity to join a friendly and committed team who work well together and for each other.

 

The successful candidate will:

Be trained to at least NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and education (or equivalent)
Have obtained English qualifications to GCSE Grade 4/C, or their equivalent
Be committed to the highest possible levels of achievement for every pupil

Show initiative within the role and have good time management skills
Be a hard-working team player in order to support the growth and development of the children in our care
Have the patience and imagination to encourage children to build on their skills

Job/Person Summary

Are you a Graduate with a good degree who is seeking classroom experience before you take your route into teaching training? 

We are looking to appoint a Graduate Learning Support Assistant / School Direct Trainee to join our friendly team.  The position is for 5 days per week, term time only. (26 hours per week, including a 30 minute lunchtime cover each day)

Wellow School is part of the University of Winchester Trust, who are keen to employ Teaching Assistants who will later apply to join the School Direct teacher training programme through Halterworth Training School, who are also part of our trust. 

The role will include supporting the learning in a class, working with individuals and groups of children in English, Mathematics and other aspects of the curriculum, as well as preparing resources and assisting teachers in the day to day management of the classroom. The successful candidate will have a good standard of English and Mathematics.
